Skin Expert LaPiel is operated by LaPiel LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit our website, contact us, subscribe to our communications, or book and pay for appointments through our Site.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

a) Information You Provide Directly
  • Contact Form: When you submit our Contact form, we collect your first name, last name, email address, subject, and message.
  • Newsletter Subscription: When you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address (and name, if provided).
  • Appointment Booking (via Amelia): Our Site uses the Amelia booking and payment plugin to allow you to schedule and pay for appointments online. Through this feature, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, selected service(s), and appointment date/time. Payment information is processed by Amelia in conjunction with a secure third-party payment processor; Skin Expert LaPiel does not store your complete credit or debit card information on its servers.
  • In-Person Payments: For appointments paid in-studio (cash, credit/debit card, Zelle, Apple Pay, or Clover), payment is processed directly at our location and is not collected or stored through the Site.
  • Testimonials & Reviews: If you provide a testimonial, review, or feedback (in person, by email, or via third-party platforms such as Google or Facebook), we may collect and feature your name, general location (e.g., city), and comments, as described in Section 10 below.
b) Information Collected Automatically
  • Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our Site. This may include your IP address, browser type, device type, referring website, pages viewed, and time spent on the Site.
  • Cookies: Our Site uses cookies to support core functionality and analytics. See Section 7, "Cookies & Your Choices," below for more information.
c) Information We Do Not Collect Online

We do not collect health history, skin condition details, allergy information, or other sensitive intake information through our website. Any such information is collected only in person, on paper or verbally, as part of your in-studio consultation, and is not stored or processed through the Site. See Section 11, "HIPAA Notice," below for more information.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries submitted through our Contact form
  • Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and manage appointments booked through Amelia
  • Process payments for services booked online
  • Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and related service communications
  • Send newsletters, promotions, and updates to subscribers who have opted in
  • Understand Site usage and improve our content, services, and user experience through analytics
  • Feature client testimonials and reviews (only with consent, as described in Section 10)
  • Comply with applicable legal, tax, and accounting obligations
  • Protect against fraud, unauthorized transactions, and misuse of our Site

We will only send promotional emails to individuals who have voluntarily subscribed to our newsletter or otherwise provided consent where required by law.

By booking an appointment, you consent to receive appointment confirmations, reminders, and service-related communications by email or text message. These are considered service communications, not marketing, and are separate from newsletter subscriptions.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We work with the following categories of third-party providers, who may process your information on our behalf solely to deliver the services described below:

  • Google Analytics: Website traffic and usage analytics.
  • WordPress Newsletter/Email Plugin: Manages newsletter sign-ups and email communications.
  • Website Hosting Provider: Stores Site data and supports Site functionality.

These providers are only permitted to use your information as necessary to provide their services to us and are not authorized to use it for their own independent marketing purposes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • With the third-party service providers listed in Section 3, solely to operate our booking, payment, analytics, and email systems
  • If required by law, subpoena, or legal process
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of LaPiel LLC, our clients, or the public
  • In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

Note: Skin Expert LaPiel and Sexylips Cosmetics are separate businesses. Information collected through the Skin Expert LaPiel website is not shared with Sexylips Cosmetics unless you separately interact with and provide information to that business directly.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • Contact form submissions: retained until your inquiry is resolved, unless you request earlier deletion
  • Newsletter subscriber data: retained until you unsubscribe
  • Booking and payment records (via Amelia): retained as long as necessary for appointment history, business records, and any applicable tax/accounting requirements

6. Data Security

We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your personal information, including secure handling of booking and payment data through Amelia's platform. Our website uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to help protect information transmitted through the Site. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies & Your Choices

Our Site may use cookies to support core functionality (such as the Amelia booking system) and analytics. We do not currently use advertising or retargeting cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

Most web browsers allow you to control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Site, including online appointment booking.

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legitimate business, legal, or record-keeping needs

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 15 below.

We aim to honor applicable state privacy laws, including general principles reflected under Florida law and similar U.S. state privacy frameworks, as they may apply to our business.

9. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable California privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), including the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of certain personal information, and request correction of inaccurate information, subject to applicable exceptions. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 15 below.

10. Testimonials, Reviews, and Photo Consent

With your explicit consent, we may feature your testimonial, review, or general feedback on our Site, social media, or marketing materials, including your first name and general location (e.g., "Jasica, Deerfield Beach, FL").

We may also request your consent to use before/after photos or images taken during your visit for marketing purposes. We will not use identifiable photos or personal testimonials without first obtaining your permission, and you may request removal of your testimonial or photo at any time by contacting us.

11. HIPAA Notice

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
